TEHRAN -- Eduardo Manuel Martinho Vingada, known as Nelo Vingada, has been appointed as Persepolis football coach on Friday night.  

The 55-year old Portuguese coach has penned a 17-month contract, according to Persepolis’ general manager. Financial details of the contract have not been revealed.  
Vingada has already coached in Portugal’s Belenenses, Académica and Vilafranquense and Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan national teams. 
The new coach will lead the team against arch-rival Esteghlal in Tehran’s derby on February 13, Abbas Ansarifard said.  
French Philippe Troussier and the Netherlands’ Dick Advocat were other nominees for the post.
